A centre-half John made the bulk of his appearances in the 1959/60 seaspm. It was clear however by 1962 that he was not an automatic first team pick and after spending the summer with Toronto he joined St Johnstone. He made only seven league outings for the Perth side before returning to Canada.

A wonderful goalkeeper, Tommy won 24 Scotland caps and made a huge impression with both Hibs and Liverpool. Whilst a Hibee Tommy kept goal in 176 league matches between 1949 and 1956. Born in Edinburgh in 1930 he was signed from Hutchison Vale in 1948. Tall, golden haired and thoroughly likable his association with Hibernian was to be both lengthy and rewarding. His career did not get off to the best of starts, indeed he was in goals when Hibs lost the 1951 League Cup final rather surprisingly 3-0 to Motherwell. He recovered from that black day and had two championship medals to show for his time as a Hibee. A cheque for £9,000 made out by Liverpool in June 1956 was sufficient to prise him away to Merseyside and as part of that deal Hibs met Liverpool in a floodlit friendly. Later in his career he played with Falkirk but in March 1960 he returned to England to play with Stoke City. He made only 10 outings for them but following a stint in Toronto, Canada, joined Leeds United and played 37 league matches before coming home to settle in Scotland. In 1970 he joined the Board of Directors at Easter Road and 13 years on from that he was President of the SFA. Alas he died in January 1984 when aged only 53.

Signed as a 24 year old by Bobby Williamson during Hibs disastrous start to the 2002/03 season. He made his debut in a 1-2 defeat at Dundee. Born in Ajaccio on the French island of Corsica he started his senior career with Bastia. Yannick then moved to AC Ajaccio where he impressed sufficiently to earn a move to Troyes where he was a team-mate of Freddy Arpinon. Arpinon was instrumental in Zambernardi’s transfer to Hibernian, confirming Bobby Williamson’s suspicion that Yannick could be the solution to Hibs’ defensive problems.

A clever French striker who was lured to Easter Road by Alex McLeish … and the fact that his great friend Franck Sauzee was already on Hibs books. Zitelli had been a notable striker and had caught British attention when scoring UEFA Cup goals against both Liverpool and Rangers. He moved from Strasbourg to Karlsruhe in March 1998 His impact at Hibernian was significant. An early goal proved to the winner against Rangers and he score din the Scottish Cup semi-final win against Livingston when Hibs reached the 2001 Scottish Cup final. His powerful shooting and shrewd positional sense made him a dangerous striker and he scored in the 6-2 rout of Hearts and the never-to-be-forgotten UEFA Cup classic against AEK Athens. David left Hibernian in the summer of 2002 and joined Istres in France, and Hibs fans were left wondering just what might have happened had the Zitelli prowess been available a few years earlier.
