A glut of goals in the Hibernian Under 18 and Under-21 sides catapulted young Garry straight into the Hibernian first team in 2000. He responded with all four goals in a 4-0 pre-season win at Gala Fairydean.
A powerful young striker he was soon amongst the goals his first competitive goal coming in a 1-1 draw against Celtic. Thereafter he was a frequent scorer so much so that he was capped by Scotland at full international level before making any appearances at Under-21 or lesser ranks. Sold to Lokomotiv Moscow.

In the 1951 Scottish Cup semi-final at Tynecastle against Motherwell John suffered a transvere fraction. This bad leg break set him back and , given that he was a native of Motherwell (and had to swim at Motherwell baths to recuperate) this was a doubly cruel blow.
He had broken into the side in the late 40s and with his swift tackling and no nonsence approach was a popular figure.

John was a Scotland Under 18 schoolboy internationalist and a product of Fir Park Boys Club before joining Dundee United. Alex McLeish brought him to the club and was seen as a direct replacement for Pat McGinlay. Signed on a Bosman from St Johnstone he became a key member of the team for the three seasons he was with the club.

Michael spent 3 seasons with Hibernian and impressed as a speedy and thoughtful player, in the mould of an old-fashioned inside forward. One of his key strengths was his eye for goal and his tally whilst at Easter Road was impressive.
Capped 34 times by Northern Ireland (he was born in Portadown), Michael had a nomadic career which was sadly blighted by injury, particularly a major groin problem that necessitated 5 operations. He started his career with Coleraine in Northern Ireland then joined Newcastle United (where he was a team-mate of Paul Gascoigne) before serving Coventry, Dundee United, Hibernian, Aberdeen, Reading, Wigan, and St Johnstone. He even managed to spend six months in America with Portland Timbers. His time with Wigan was particularly emotive providing as it did Wembley appearances in the Auto Windshield Trophy and play-offs. By the turn of the century he was back in Scotland with Clydebank. If ever a spell at a single club proved a player’s injury problems then it was Michael’s at Coventry where he suffered a dislocated shoulder and no fewer than 3 hernias!
His international career had the full quota of highs and lows, including a brace in a sensational 5-3 win over Austria. He was short tempered at times and had the notoriety of being sent off in an Edinburgh derby.

A Bosnian by birth, Alen and his family moved to Austria when civil war erupted in what was then Yugoslavia. He made football his career and earned a contract with Admira Wacker in Vienna. His displays there were sufficiently good to interest Belgian side Royal Antwerp. With Hibernian he has impressed with his enormous stamina,  and his long range goal at Rangers back in August was one of the early season highlights for Hibernian.

Signed from Stenhousemuir in 1946, he was the only member of the Famous Five who cost a transfer fee. Born in Falkirk in 1927 Willie went on to become on of the most popular figures in Scottish football, especially when managing the national side.
Willie won 10 Scottish League caps, 3 championship badges and was a Scottish Cup finalist in both 1947 and 1958. He also played in the Hibs side that lost the League Cup final in 1951.
Plagued by injuries he showed remarkable determination to keep bounding back. Three times he broke a leg, he also broke his arm and had various muscle and tendon injuries.
He moved to Falkirk in May 1961 and retired from the game in 1963.
IN 1980 Ormond returned to Hibernian, this time as manager. He had an impeccable pedigree in this respect having managed St Johnstone from 1967 to 1973 with distinction and he spent an excellent spell in charge of Scotland before managing Hearts for three years.

One of the most popular Hibernian players of the Eddie Turnbull management era, it is often overlooked that Jim was with Hibs long before Eddie was appointed. Jim joined the club in 1962 from schools football in 1962 and stayed until 1974. His subsequent career took him to St Johnstone then Motherwell before he returned to Easter Road as the reserve team coach. Brought up as a Hibernian supporter, he watched the team from 1951 onwards.                                                                                                            His debut came on 9 December 1962 and was against Utrecht of Holland in the Fairs Cup. Only sixteen at the time, manager Walter Galbraith shrewdly delayed telling Jim of his bow until the afternoon of the match.                                                     Quite simply, O’Rourke loved scoring goals and he had the good fortune to play in sides that provided him with plenty opportunities. Playing up front with Alan Gordon was perhaps his zenith, but the partner he most enjoyed was Joe Baker who had been his boyhood idol.  Jim left Hibs in 1974 where ex Hibs coach John Lambie was on the staff, and with a wonderful sense of irony his first goal for the Saints came in a 1-0 win over Hibs at Easter Road on 28 September 1974.

Neil’s father, Tommy, had been a respected internationalist with Morton and Neil was a chip of the old block. He played over 200 games for Morton (League Cup and Scottish Cup semi-finals included) himself before earning a big money move to West Ham in December 1981 (the fee was said to total £300,000). He spent just over 5 seasons in London before Hibs came calling with a £100,000 cheque.
His debut came against Queen of the South at Easter Road and Neil scored in a 3-1 win. He was also one of Hibernian’s scorers against Morton on the day that goalkeeper Andy Goram scored with a downfield punt.
After a useful spell with Hibernian Neil joined St. Mirren.
