Whilst with Hearts Dave had been capped twice before moving to Clyde. He won a Scottish Cup winners badge as captain of Clyde. During war-time service he had played with Bath City. He finally severed his association with Hibs when he joined Gillingham in August 1957, having played 6 matches for Hibs the previous season.

Born in Whitburn in 1952, Duncan was a flying winger who joined Hibs in December 1978, having previously served Millwall, Dundee, St Johnstone and German club Furth.
Duncan made a most unusual Hibs debut, playing in the friendly at Tel Aviv in Israel.
His brother was John Lambie who as a player was a solid full back and then as a coach began at Hibs before managing Partick Thistle and Hamilton.

An Icelandic midfielder Bjarni made a sensational scoring debut for Hibs ina Premier League match at Kilmarnock. Coming on as a sub he grabbed the Hibs goal in a 2-1 defeat. He played seven matches that season but as it ended in relegation it was a bad time to join the fray. Jim Duffy left the club and was replaced by Alex McLeish and Bjarni was never to feature in the new boss’s plans.

One of the most remarkably gifted players to serve Hibernian in the post-war era. Little Russell Latapy had all of the skills to justify his nickname ‘Little Magician’.
He was raised in the Caribbean island of Trinidad and played with Trintoc, Port Morant United and the Newtown club in Port of Spain whilst based on the sunshine islands.
His progress once spotted was rapid. He joined Porto in 1995 and was farmed out to Portuguese second division side Academica Coimbra for four years. He had over 50 caps for Trinidad and Tobago before he moved to Portugal and by the time he retired from international football had taken that total to over 100.
His stint in the Iberian peninsular reached it’s zenith with Porto and in Bobby Robson’s side he was a EUFA Cup quarter finalists and the first Trinidadian to play in the Champions League. Alas in the aforementioned UEFA Cup he missed a vital spot-kick in a shoot out against Sampdoria that cost the Portuguese club the tie.
From Porto he moved to city rivals Boavista. His time in Portugal brought two Portuguese titles at Porto and one cup winners medal at Boavista. More importantly for Hibernian it brought him to Alex McLeish’s attention.
Signed during the club’s successful First Division campaign of 98/99 he quickly won a host of admirers. His trickery, hard shooting and sheer entertainment value marked him out as the outstanding player not only at Hibs but in the First Division and he was duly voted First Division Player of the Year in 1999.
Sadly Russell’s career at Hibernian ended in tawdry fashion. As the year 2001 got underway he was negotiating a new contract and seemingly too far from the club’s figures. A late night drinking session in the spring saw him miss training. This was one indiscretion too much for the club and he did not play again for Hibs. Given that these events happened in the very season in which the club was chasing a champions league spot and Scottish Cup glory this was sad indeed.
In the summer of 2001 Russell thus moved to Rangers. Better perhaps to dwell on Russell’s huge contribution to the revival of Hibernian which went before his fall from grace.

A Danish wing-back who always impressed with both is physique and his application. One of Alex McLeish’s finest captures, the athletic Dane slotted into the Hibernian side with ease. Ulrik made his debut in the 0-0 draw with Hearts in July 2000 at Tynecastle and missed only a handful of games in his first season and even chipped in with a couple of league goals.
Capped 26 times by Denmark at Under 21 level he was signed from OB Odense. Sadly his second season at the club was compromised by injury and when he returned to full fitness he left to join Celtic in a deal which the club could hardly refuse as a harsher economic climate swept through the game.

A £200,000 capture from St Mirren in August 1996, Barry scored on his debut against Brechin City. Alas he was hit with a mystery virus soon afterwards and never seemed quite the same force again.
He did score the opening goal of Hibs’ season in the First Division (a winner at Greenock) but flitted in and out of the team; even re-joining St. Mirren on loan at one stage.
Eventually released he returned to St. Mirren but injury problems beset him and he was forced out of the game at a relatively early age. His first spell with St. Mirren had been somewhat blighted by a drug-related problem. Between 1993 and 1995 he was capped 9 times by Scotland at Under-21 level.
He re-emerged in the game via a study course spent at Bath University where he represented Team Bath in the 2002/03 FA Cup trail.

A German striker, Dirk joined Hibernian in July 1999 and scored twice on his debut against Motherwell. Very strong in the air he nevertheless failed to score the number of goals his play often hinted at.
He joined that select band of Hibees to have been sent-off in a friendly when he was sent packing against Caribbean opposition as Hibs spent the 199/2000 winter shut down in Tobago. That said Lehmann had been subjected to almost continual provocation and had previously never been sent off in his career.
Dirk grabbed headlines in his early days at Hibs by virtue of wearing earings, which he would cover up with huge elastoplasts on match day. The sight of him running around with large white squares hanging from his ears inevitably drew comments. However, he also earned column inches in the press for a few important counters in his time as a Hibs player. He netted in the 3-0 romp at Hearts in December 1999, and had two in a pulsating 5-2 win over Dundee at home in August 2000.
Dirk played 59 games for Hibs in the league (most of them as substitute) and scored 16 goals. He gradually slipped down the pecking order as the likes of Zitelli and Libbra came on board and moved to Brighton when he was unable to negotiate an extension to his contract.
Prior to playing for Hibs he had been with FC Energie Cottbus, RWD Molenbeek, Cologne, and Fulham. He returned to Scotland from Brighton to join Motherwell and was at Fir Park during the turbulence of 2002.

Born in Johnstone in 1958, he flourished under Alex Ferguson at Aberdeen, so much so that Fergie took him to Manchester United in a 1988 £750,000 deal.
He cemented his place as Scotland’s number one goalkeeper whilst at Old Trafford until the fateful 1990 FA Cup final against Crystal Palacle when his manager blamed him for several mistakes.
He returned to Scotland and played with Dundee before Hibernian stepped in.
A veteran of many a big occasion, he has 81 Scotland caps to his credit and is undoubtedly one of the finest keepers ever to represent the nation.

Signed in January 1963 from Liverpool. Tom had played with St. Mirren before moving to Anfield.

Enjoyed a remarkably lengthy football career in Scotland and it is not unfair to say that Hibernian never really got the best from him.
He was one of a talented group of youngsters at the club in the late 80s. Signed on an ‘S’ Form by John Blackley in 1985 whilst attached to Hutchison Vale BC, he established himself in the Hibernian reserve side before breaking into the first team. In seven seasons with Hibs he played 37 times.
He left Hibs for Raith Rovers and scored in their remarkable UEFA Cup clash with Bayern Munich. A full Northern Irish internationalist he got better as he career developed and probably reached his peak with Partick Thistle. In 2001 he was club captain as ‘The Jags’ won the Second Division championship in a canter.
Born in Whitburn in 1969 he stood at 5’5” and between his stints with Hibs and Partick Thistle he was playing with Ayr United and Ross County.

A reliable goalkeeper, Lawrie caught the eye of Hibernian when playing with Newtongrange Star and the Army. Manager Hugh Shaw signed him in 1956 and two years later the wisdom of that signing was apparent as Leslie gave an inspired display against Rangers in the Scottish Cup semi-final.
Generally he did well at Easter Road before moving to Airdrie in November 1959. Lawrie was captain for a spell at Broomfield.

An exceptional centre-forward, Alex Mcleish brought this French striker to Hibs during the 2000/01season. Tall and powerful he was also very good on the ground and scored some exceptional goals for Hibs. Indeed he scored at Parkhead on his debut against Celtic.
Sadly in the summer of 2001 he was unable to secure a suitable deal at Hibernian and he joined English First Division side Norwich.
He scored a stunning hat-trick in a pre-season friendly match for Norwich against Fakenham Town, then netted within 11 seconds of his full league debut against Manchester City. He was released from his contract by Norwich in September 2002.

Born in Ayrshire in March 1920, Alex Linwood was to become one of the most feared centre-forwards in the Scottish game. A lightening quick finisher he was a clever player who took the strain off those around him. St. Mirren and Hibernian fans were lucky to have Alex on their books for several years. His goal won the Summer Cup for St Mirren in 1943 and he was in the Hibs side that landed the title in 1948.
From St. Mirren he moved to Middlesborough. He joined Hibs in 1947 and stayed until moving to Clyde in October 1948. He was a talented finisher and in the 48/49 season scored 8 goals for Hibs in only 12 starts.
Whilst with the Bully Wee he played in Scottish Cup final. He gained one Scotland cap, in 1949 against Wales and scored in a 2-0 win. His final club was Morton.

Born in Bathgate in December 1973, Graeme spent six years as a Hibee and between 1991 and 1997 made 39 league appearances. He never managed more than a dozen or so games in any one season so it is probably fair to say he was something of a fringe player.
He moved to Ayr United in the summer of 1997 and his full-back talents were put to use there until he moved on to Queen of the South then Clydebank.
When Junior football began it’s Premier League in 2002 Graham was in the Bathgate side that took part.

Signed by Alex McLeish when Hibernian dropped into the First Division, Lovell was an outstanding success and arguably under-rated by many. He came to Hibs having scored 67 goals in 150 matches for Reading and matched his prowess with industry.
An eloquent speaker on the game he provided much of the graft in a midfield boasting players such as Latapy and Sauzee and helped the club not only achieve promotion but contributed several quality goals from a midfield position.
A member of the Hibernian Scottish Cup final team he was rather surprisingly allowed to leave in the summer of 2001 and joined a thriving Livingston where he himself proved his worth rather quickly. Captained Livingston to CIS Cup final win over ...Hibs in 2004.

Signed by Alex McLeish from Clydebank in October 1998, Paul was a left back with a prodigious talent in the air. Clydebank had farmed him out to Neilston Juniors and then used him from March 1995 onwards. He was Second Division Player of the Year and a promotion winner with the Bankies.
His career with Hibernian started well and his phenomenal heading ability caught the eye. However, he failed to build upon a solid start and let the team downly badly when sent off along with Franck Sauzee in a 2-0 Easter Road reversal to Celtic in September 1999. Eventually Paul was allowed to join Ayr United. He had the last laugh; playing for Ayr in the shock League Cup semi-final victory  they achieved over Hibernian in 2001.

Paco Luna joined Hibernian from Mexican side Monterray in 2001. A Spanish born centre-forward he had played at the highest level in Spain with Sporting Gijon and with lesser lights Almeria and Albacete. In season 1999/200 he had a short stint with Dundee and it whilst at Dens that Hibs boss Alex McLeish had seen him first hand.
He was a clever forward and whilst not the tallest he was excellent in the air. When Hibernian met AEK Athens in the UEFA Cup he almost won the tie for Hibs, scoring twice in regulation time and going ever so close in the final seconds to securing what would have been a stunning win.
