A centre-half, Jim was signed Drumchapel Amateurs in 1959. Strong in the tackle he was a good organiser and between 1960 & 1964 was a regular in the Hibs defence. Sold to Dundee in October 1964 and played for them for just over six seasons before moving to Queen of the South. He also played for Miami in the United States.

A left wing back, Roland was signed by Bobby Williamson in 2003 from Gillingham. He played in the 2004 CIS Cup final against Livingston but in truth he took time to find his feet at the club. He left the club shortly after Williamson had himself left to join Plymouth. Roland’s destination was Hull.

Alex Edwards joined Dunfermline when he was 15 and made his debut against Hibernian having just turned 16. He excelled with the Pars, winning a Scottish Cup medal (against Hearts), featuring in several European matches and attracting interest from several big English clubs.
Hibs signed Alex when he was 24 and picked up a real bargain at £13,000, especially considering Leeds United boss Don Revie had tried to secure the players’ services.
Under Turnbull Edwards thrived and won a League Cup winners medal and Dryburgh Cup badges. This was hardly surprising as he had been capped by Scotland at Amateur, Under 18, Under 21 and League levels. Indeed it is probably fair to say that only the presence of Celtic’s Jimmy Johnstone and Willie Henderson of Rangers prevented him gaining a full cap.
Aged 32 Alex finally left Hibs and joined Arbroath briefly before retiring from the game. Known for his fiery temper Alex was nevertheless one of the key men in Turnbull’s fine side of the early to mid 70s.

David began his senior career with Celtic but like many youngsters struggled to gain regular football. He moved to Partick Thistle then St. Mirren and Falkirk.
It was Jim Duffy who took David to Hibs in January 1997 and he featured fairly regularly until Alex McLeish arrived. Although he played sporadically with Alex at the helm his Easter Road career was drawing to a close and he played only 8 games in the promotion winning season before moving on.

Signed in February 1988 from Rotherham United Gareth made the conversion from English Third Division football to the Scottish Premier League with ease. He scored on his debut against Dundee but took time to settle and at one stage was keen to return to England. So keen indeed he welcomed loan spells with Stoke City and Northampton Town.
A League Cup winner in 1991, Gareth’s confidence seemed to soar thereafter and with his electric pace and busy manner he was a handful for defences. After leaving Hibs he played with Partick Thistle, Airdrie and Alloa. He even contrived to get sent off against Hibs whilst with Airdrie!
