A centre-forward he was signed in 1952 from Armadale Thistle. He made 3 league outings in 53/54 but enjoyed much more success in the League Cup scoring several goals including a hat-trick. However, he could not settle at Easter Road and in September 1954 moved to Bournemouth, alas he did not fit in their either and returned to Hibs only to move to Southend in the summer of 1956.

Signed in August 1970 Kenny had to overcome a compound leg-fracture to make his mark with Hibernian. A talented winger his debut was memorable in that it came in a Fairs Cup tie against Malmo. His first goals came early in the 1970/71 season when he bagged a brace against St. Mirren. He had another two in a Scottish Cup win over Forfar and was an established part of the first team pool by the end of that season with 4 goals in 11 league matches. However he managed only a handful of games the following season and as a left-winger lost out to the more experienced Arthur Duncan.

Born in Dumbarton in 1942, Joe played 16 matches for Hibs between 1959 and 1963 without ever being a regular. He moved to Ipswich in July 1963 and went o to make 77 outings in two seasons for the Suffolk club. He was a full back.

Signed from Third Lanark, November 1964 it is doubtful if Hibs had a more prolific goalscorer in defence. He netted his first goal for Hibs in a League Cup tie against Alloa in September 1965 and by August 1967 had 31 goals to his name! The bulk of his goals came from the penalty mark, indeed at one stage he converted 29 out of 34 spot kicks (Sadly of his misses two came in vital derbies against Hearts). In short Davis was remarkably consistent and he is credited with an astonishing run of 273 consecutive games for Hibernian.

Born in Ecuador in 1974, Ulises was an Ecuadorian internationalist (he had over 50 caps), when Hibernian made him their record signing the summer of 2001. He has made a huge impact with his surging runs and clever use of the ball. His golden day came in the Hibernian-Hearts derby at Easter Road when he scored both Hibs goals in a 2-1 win, including a quite stunning first minute opener. Ulises played for Ecuador in the Japan/Korea World Cup finals and was arguably that nation’s finest player. His was sufficient to earn him a big money move to Aston Villa upon his return to Britain in July 2002.

A central defender Mark made his debut in 1999 against St. Mirren. Given that Hibs won the match despite playing much of it with 10 men it was an impressive bow. Mark had been linked with Hibs from the age of 9 when Martin Ferguson lured him to the club. It was Jim Duffy who signed him officially. Sadly he was plagued by injury and this hampered his progress. He also had the misfortune to play at the heart of the defence that lost 5-1 to Hearts at Tynecastle Park in 2002.

A towering central defender, Shaun had been a mining apprentice when Raith Rovers offered him an escape into football. He seized it with both hands and gave Rovers seven years excellent service before moving to Hibs in January 1997. He eventually returned to Rovers having won First Division Championship medals with both Hibs and Raith, but importantly having won a League Cup Shaun Dennis had spent 6 years with Raith Rovers in Division One.

A former Austrian Under-21 internationalist, Klaus joined Hibs when the club were in the First Division under Alex McLeish. A central defender he stayed very briefly having joined the club form GAK Graz. He played only one competitive match for Hibs, a shock 2-0 defeat at Love Street against St. Mirren.

A young forward who made his bow in the 79/80 relegation season. He was a substitute in the final game of that season, which, rather fittingly, Hibs lost 1-0 at home to Partick Thistle.

Born in Edinburgh in 1975, Darren joined Hibees in August 1992 from Hutcheson Vale BC. After impressing in the youth system, and helping the club win the BP Youth Cup, he made his full debut in May 1995 against Kilmarnock and in the following two seasons edged his way further into the first team picture. Despite winning 5 Scotland Under-21 caps and displaying enormous enthusiasm and will to win he could never quite make himself an automatic selection. With that in mind he moved on to St. Johnstone in the summer of 1998.

A very versatile youngster Graeme joined Hibs in 1991 and was soon breaking into the first team. In his first season he scored 3 goals in just 5 games and a promising career beckoned. What went wrong is quite hard to identify. He gained Scotland Under-21 caps and made over 30 outings for Hibs but was never quite an automatic selection. He later moved on to Stirling Albion and Stenhousemuir.

Signed from Chelsea for £125,000 Dow, an industrious and busy player made an instant impact. A former Scotland Under-21 cap Andy had both pace and strength, key assets for a full back in the modern game. Prior to joining Hibs he had played with Dundee and Bradford City. He left Hibs in 1998 after two and half years in Edinburgh to join his former boss Alex Miller at Aberdeen. Stints with Motherwell and St. Mirren were also squeezed in before his senior career ended.

Born in Falkirk in 1933, Alex spent the early part of his career at Easter Road. He played 3 times in the 53/54 season. In May 1956 he left Hibs to join Southend United in England but within a few years he was back in Scotland with Falkirk with whom he won promotion in 1961.

Capped six times by Scotland and playing in over 450 league games for Hibs it is clear that Arthur is one of the most noted Hibernian players of the modern era. Arthur joined Partick straight from school and made his Thistle debut with a story to recall. Alex Hamilton of Dundee was his direct opponent and proceeded to hand the young Duncan a complimentary stand ticket with the advice “use this, because you will not get a kick of the ball today”. Fortunately Arthur was not put off and by December 1970 had made sufficient progress to convince Hibs boss Willie McFarlane to sign him. A flying winger Arthur quickly won over the Hibs support. He played in many memorable matches but had the misfortune to score the own goal when Hibs lost the Scottish Cup final replay to Rangers in 1979. After Hibs Arthur played with Meadowbank before becoming a chiropodist.

It was from Bonnyrigg Rose in 1961 that Hibs signed the then young inside forward. However, he was quickly converted to a full back and it is in that position that he made by far the majority of his Hibernian appearances. He did well to recover from a broken leg sustained against Celtic in 1968.

A magnificent striker, Gordon joined Hibs from East Fife and proved to be John Blackley’s finest signing for the club. Born in Paisley in 1965 he would, bar for injury, have been one of Scotland’s finest strikers. He was extremely strong, very direct and prolific in the air. In May 1986 Gordon joined Chelsea for £381,000, a record fee at the time for both clubs.
